About The Fursa Trust: 

The Fursa Trust Kenya is a small non profit organisation dedicated to empowering children and youth from underserved communities through academic, social and life skills support and mentorship. We are committed to creating a world where all children, regardless of their background and circumstance, can lead a life of choice. 

The Fursa Trust has been running Afterschool, Saturday, and Holiday Clubs in Deep Sea  informal settlement  since 2019 and in 2025 we are completing a new building in Deep Sea informal settlement in Nairobi that will increase the size and scope of our work for the community.

Overall Job Role: 

As the Club Facilitator at Fursa Trust, you will play a crucial role in assisting with planning and implementing our academic programmes, supporting the development and the delivery of the Fursa Learning Framework and working mainly, but not exclusively, with children from Junior Secondary School (JSS) (grades 7,8 and 9). 

Your responsibilities will include preparing materials, leading sessions, and monitoring attendance and performance. 

You will work closely with the Lead Facilitator and volunteers to ensure a safe, fun and nurturing environment, promoting and demonstrating a growth mindset, problem solving and critical thinking.

You will support the development and implementation of systems to ensure ongoing monitoring and use of existing club materials and equipment, particularly for the JSS cohort.

You will lead a programme to prepare grade 9 candidates for KJSEA exams, and help them prepare for the transition to senior secondary school.

You will contribute generally to the overall smooth running of the club and operations.

Description of the Ideal Candidate: 

The facilitator will be a passionate and dedicated educator with a strong interest in the holistic development of young people, supporting their development and becoming their best selves. 

You will be open-minded, flexible, and willing to learn new approaches to learning, with a creative and energetic approach. 

You will have experience and a passion for working with young people aged 12-16, and for managing a group with understanding and empathy, valuing their talents, energy and curiosity.

You possess excellent organizational skills, and are highly motivated and able to work independently, with limited supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team setting and can juggle multiple tasks. 

The ideal candidate will be compassionate and empathetic and must believe that every child regardless of tribe / religion / circumstance, has the potential to realize their dreams.

You will be curious, with an ability to listen, observe, and provide constructive feedback to support individual students in their learning and growth. 

You will uphold safeguarding policies and promote a culture of child protection and welfare.

Specific Skills and Experience Required: 

  • Preferred Diploma in education or related field with at least two years experience in educational environments. 
  • A child-centered, empathetic approach to learning and mentoring.
  • Creative and understanding approach to behaviour management, ability to handle challenging situations calmly and constructively.
  • Strong communication skills to build trust and maintain positive relationships with the children, parents and volunteers.
  • Creative, flexible, and enthusiastic about working with youth from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills for planning and coordinating educational activities and managing your time. 
  • Candidates should possess fundamental computer skills including proficiency in G-suite applications or MS365. 
  • Familiarity with the CBC curriculum in JSS will be a great advantage.
  • Work well both independently and collaboratively with a team. 
  • Have a track record for flexibility, patience and cultural sensitivity.

Preferred Skills/Experience: 

  • Experience working with Edtech or developing engaging and interactive learning activities. 
  • Familiarity with low-income environments or a willingness to learn and understand diverse community backgrounds.
