About Fursa Trust: 

Fursa Trust Kenya is a small non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering children and youth from underserved communities through education, mentorship, and skill-building programmes. We are committed to creating a world where all children, regardless of their background and circumstance, can lead a life of choice. 

The Fursa Trust has been running an Afterschool and Holiday Club in Deep Sea Slum for 5 years, and in 2026 we transitioned to our new building, increasing the size and scope of our work for the community. As part of this growth, we are excited to be introducing our Digital Literacy Programme, which will be fully integrated into Fursa’s educational framework, equipping children with essential technology skills to prepare them for the future. We are committed to fostering a positive learning environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and personal growth. The ideal candidate should be able and willing to work in a fast-changing environment,with a passion for empowering children through digital skills,and support the team effectively amidst all these exciting changes.

Overall Job Role: 

As a Programme Support Intern at Fursa Trust, you will play a crucial role in assisting with the planning, implementation, evaluation of our educational programmes, integrating digital literacy into the Fursa learning framework and be part of the team working directly with children at the club.

Your responsibilities will include preparing materials for afterschool sessions, supporting the implementation of a digital literacy programme, engaging with students, and contributing to the overall success of Fursa’s educational programmes. 

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and youth while gaining valuable experience in the non-profit sector.

Description of the Ideal Candidate: 

  • Experience working with children and youth 
  • Strong organisational skills for planning and coordinating educational activities. 
  • IT proficiency for tasks such as organising online materials, handling folders and files on google Drive, printing materials and using educational software. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, students, and community stakeholders. 
  • Strong communication skills to build trust and maintain positive relationships with the children, families, and volunteers . 
  • Works well independently and in a team. 

The ideal candidate should possess excellent organisational skills, and be highly motivated and able to work independently, with limited supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team setting and can juggle multiple tasks. 

The ideal candidate will be compassionate and empathetic and must believe that every child regardless of tribe / religion / circumstance, has the potential to realise their dreams.

S/he will be open-minded, flexible, and willing to learn new approaches to education, with a creative and energetic approach to learning activities. 

S/he will be curious, with an ability to listen, observe, and provide constructive feedback to support students in their learning and growth. 

Specific Skills and Experience Required: 

  • Experience working with children and youth 
  • Strong organisational skills for planning and coordinating educational activities. 
  • A passion for digital literacy, with the ability to explore and develop creative  ways to deliver digital skills to children including those with little or no prior exposure to technology
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, students, and community stakeholders. 
  • Strong communication skills to build trust and maintain positive relationships with the children, families, and volunteers . 
  • IT proficiency for tasks such as organising online materials, handling folders and files on Google Drive, printing materials and using educational software. 
  • Works well independently and in a team. 

Preferred Skills/Experience: 

  • Training/experience in educational environments. 
  • Experience working with Edtech and STEM and developing engaging and interactive learning activities. 
  • Experience integrating digital literacy into educational programmes
  • Familiarity with low-income environments or a willingness to learn and understand diverse community backgrounds.
